Ohrid, Macedonia - all season destination

Look at this place. Isn't it magical?

A UNESCO city with so much unique stuff  of natural and cultural heritage.
Rare species of fish in one of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe.
Rare species of flora and fauna in to the highly protected National Park Galicica.
Traditional architecture in the old town, and medieval churches all around the lake.
Many sunny days.
Cristal clear water good for swimming from late May till late Oct. (depending how cold person you are :))
Rare species of people who hibernate from late Sept. till late May.

If you are interested in cultural, sports, rural, religious tourism, this is a place to go. If you are also interested in good food, wine and spirits, traditional architecture, photography, boat trips and discovering an unexplored world of multi-ethnic society, than Ohrid must be your next destination.
Alternative tourism is developing rapidly, which gives you plenty of choices of accommodation. Rooms to rent on the old fashion way…

Wow I don't know why but for the first time it took me so long to publish this great experience...
Over 10 years experience up and down the mountains around the world, action and passion with the outdoors, hundreds of rocky, snowy and grassy peaks behind, you could guess the challenge goes up to the highest Earth's summit.
Personal goal: to reach Mount Everest on the age of 30.
National goal: To become first Macedonian female on top of the world :)

(Knowing that no woman from my country and nation has climbed it so far, I had a double challenge and motivation).
At the moment when I felt enough psycho –physical strength to survive the effort, I had a bigger issue to face, which is finding financial condition for supporting this kind of expedition. Until the last moment I was uncertain whether I will be able to join the expedition this year or not. Ikar Hut, Lagadin - Ohrid

Ikar Hut is a meeting point of artist, sportsmen, travelers and adventures willing to explore the beauty around Ohrid lake and mountains in the region. As a hostel it has 1 family room and 3 dorm rooms with total capacity of 13 beds.
It is located 8 km away from Ohrid city center in direction of St Naum monastery.
